Orangeville Northmen alumnus Phil Sanderson has passed away.
The 68-year-old died on Wednesday (Oct. 10) with family by his side.
Phil is considered a pioneer of Northmen lacrosse in Orangeville with his brothers.
He played for the Dufferin Northmen Senior B team in the 80s that won three championships. He also helped coach the Jr. A and B teams.
Tributes of Phil have been shared on social media since the news of his passing.
Longtime National Lacrosse League player Brodie Merrill posted on Twitter: “Anyone who played for Phil would run through a wall for him. Youd be hard pressed to find someone with a bigger heart.”
Toronto Rock goalie Nick Rose wrote:

A visitation for Phil will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home on Sunday (Oct. 14) from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday at 11:00 a.m..
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation (Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research) would be appreciated by the family.
