Mono Mayor Laura Ryan says she is very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for council this term.
Mayor Ryan was sworn into office on Tuesday along with her council. Councillors Fred Nix, Sharon Martin and Ralph Manktelow are all returning from last term.
Deputy Mayor John Creelman is returning to municipal politics after serving the last decade and a half as a judge.
Mayor Ryan says it’s a bonus having a veteran council.
Councillor Nix says a lot of the day-to-day stuff is mundane houskeeping items, but he still wants council to focus on protecting the environment.
Global warming worries him, and he believes Mono can continue to play a roll in helping fight climate change.
When asked if she would seek the Warden’s position at the County of Dufferin again, Mayor Ryan says she won’t this year, however, she is looking to return to the Community Services committee as chair.
