OPP is renewing its efforts to get information in a cold case.
On November 7, 1980, 18-year-old Veronica Kaye left her Etobicoke apartment to visit a friend a photography store before going to Square One in Mississauga.
Kaye met her friend then told her she had a ride to the mall. But Kaye wasn’t seen with anyone and there was no vehicle in the parking lot when she left the photography store.
That was the last time Kaye was seen alive. More than 11 months later, her body was discovered in a wooded, isolated area near Humber Station Road and Castlederg Sideroad in Caledon.
Police say Kaye was wearing the same clothes in which she was last seen alive in and sustained fatal injuries fighting for her life.
A unique button was found with her body that police say didn’t come from her clothing.
Investigators are hoping to identify the source of the button.
Knowing that someone has information to assist with this ongoing investigation, OPP has released a video overview of the crime and is encouraging the public to view and share it widely on social media.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Kaye. If you have any information about this case, please call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, your local police service, or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
