The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has laid charges in connection with a homicide investigation.
On Monday, April 1st, 2024, at about 8 a.m., police responded to a report of a deceased individual in the area of Chinguacousy Road and King Street in Caledon. The post-mortem examination confirmed that the deceased was David ROBSON, a 65 year old male from Melancthon. The cause of death was homicide.
David was last seen on Thursday, March 21st 2024, at about 5:00 p.m. in Melancthon. On Monday, March 25, 2024, he was reported missing, along with his vehicle, a black 2017 Kia Sportage with Ontario licence plate DAMZ 252. On the same date, his residence was reported on fire.
As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, April 28th Jacek TRELA, a 29 year old male from Mississauga, was arrested and charged with First-degree murder, Arson, and Indignity to body.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville today (April 29, 2026)
