Truck prohibitions will kick in locally this summer.
Beginning this July, time-of-day truck prohibitions – and all-day restrictions on weekends and holidays – will be introduced in Alton and Caledon East.
In Alton, the pilot will apply to Porterfield Road between Charleston Side Road and Dufferin County Road 109.
In Caledon East, it will apply to Airport Road between King Street and Charleston Side Road, as well as Old Church Road from Airport Road to Highway 50.
During the pilot, trucks will not be permitted between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and between 11:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m., as well as throughout weekends and holidays.
The pilot aims to reduce the impacts of trucks during the busiest times, without prohibiting trucks from these important corridors entirely.
To support these changes, updated signage will be installed, and flashing lights will be added on Highway 50 in Bolton to improve visibility and awareness.
