Dufferin OPP has charged an Amaranth resident with break and enter, along with additional offences, following an investigation.
On January 8th shortly after 2:30 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to the area of First Avenue and Jelly Street in Shelburne in response to a commercial alarm at a retail store. The complainant reported that a lone suspect had used a hammer to gain entry to the store and provided a description of the individual.
Due to the quick response, a keen-eyed officer observed an individual matching the suspect’s description walking along the roadway near the scene. Police were able to identify the individual, resulting in a break and enter investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old male from Amaranth, has been charged with
- Break and enter a place to commit an indictable offence
- Possession of break-in instruments
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
