On Tuesday, November 25th at about 830pm, officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in a hotel parking lot in Melancthon. One person was pronounced deceased.
The deceased has been identified as 59 year old Garnett WALTERS of Melancthon.
As a result of the ongoing investigation,34 year old Andrae MULLINGS, from Melancthon, has been charged with second degree murder.
The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville at a later date.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety. Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
