At a recent Caledon council meeting on Sept. 23, a proposed free fitness membership for all residents 65 and older has been sent for further review.
The motion, which was introduced by Councillor Doug Maskell, was referred to the Age-Friendly Advisory Committee for a detailed analysis of its financial and community impacts.
The idea came from what Maskell called a successful “pilot” in June, when the town offered free access to its recreation centres for Seniors Month. However, the proposal faced concerns about long-term costs and its potential impact on local organizations.
