Following a contentious debate, Caledon council voted Tuesday evening to suspend Caledon Councillor Dave Sheen’s pay for 15 days.
Sheen is facing sanctions following a recommendation from the town’s Integrity Commissioner David Boghosian.
They stem from complaints filed by the town’s CAO Nathan Hyde and Mayor Annette Groves regarding comments the councillor made during a heated council meeting on May 20 about a controversial fill project at Swan Lake.
The commissioner’s report found that Sheen had committed two separate breaches of the town’s code of conduct. The CAO’s complaint alleged that Sheen’s statements cast doubt on the professional competence of staff and suggested they would work under improper influence. The mayor’s complaint focused on the same comments, alleging they falsely accused her of exerting undue influence and undermined her integrity.
