The United Church of Canada turns 100 this year, and Milton’s St. Paul’s United Church is looking to celebrate with the community.
Their event is called ‘Back In Time For Church’. It’s taking place at St. Paul’s at 123 Main Street East in Milton on Sunday, March 30th, starting at 3:00 p.m.
The celebration will re-visit 100 years of the United Church of Canada from a Milton perspective. Guests will experience news of the various eras since the church’s founding in 1925, along with food trends, popular fashions, and congregation events. Attendance is free-of-charge but free-will donations will be kindly accepted.
The United Church, Canada’s largest Protestant Christian denomination, was founded on June 10th, 1925, as a merger of four Protestant denominations — the Methodist Church, Canada, the Congregation Union of Ontario and Quebec, two-thirds of the congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Canada and the Association of Local Union Churches. The Canadian Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church joined in 1968.
St. Paul’s United Church was originally established in 1852 as the Milton Wesleyan Methodist Church and, with the establishment of the United Church of Canada in 1925, became St. Paul’s United Church.
