A retired Burlington couple are the latest to win the lottery.
Nancy and Robert Whitten matched the last six of seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the Saturday, December 21st LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $100,000!
The two have been happily married for 41 years, and this isn’t even their first time winning! In 2012, they celebrated a $100,000 win with INSTANT CROSSWORD. Recently, the grandparents returned to the OLG Prize Centre to claim another $100,000 prize—this time courtesy of ENCORE!
“We were at home together when I scanned our LOTTO 6/49 ticket using the OLG app,” Nancy recounted, as she and Robert visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim their winnings. “Robert was sitting right beside me when I discovered we’d won. It didn’t seem real! In fact, I checked our ticket three times to make sure I was seeing things correctly. We were so shocked.”
Robert was shocked when he found out, and says the first person they told was their son.
“It’s a great feeling and takes some of life’s pressures away,” the couple smiled. “We plan to pay some bills and renovate our bathroom.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Reddy’s Convenience on Lakeshore Road in Burlington.
