United Way Halton & Hamilton (UWHH) is celebrating the success of their Sleepless For Our Community event.
On Friday, February 21st, participants spent the night in their vehicles to support programs that provide housing assistance, food security, mental health resources, and job training for those in need. The event raised over $335,000.
“The demand for support in our community is at an all-time high, with countless individuals and families struggling to meet their basic needs,” says Brad Park, President and CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “Every day, we see the impact of poverty on our neighbours. Families are making impossible choices between rent, food, and other necessities. Sleepless For Our Community has been a powerful opportunity to stand together and take action to address these challenges.”
Donations were matched by anonymous supporters through the Local Love Community Match program.
With rising housing costs and food insecurity, the event aimed to raise awareness and drive meaningful change.
“This event is a reminder that poverty is not an abstract issue. It impacts real people, our neighbours, and our community,” adds Brad Park. “Thanks to the support of everyone who participated, we can continue providing life-changing resources and help move families from poverty to possibility. Your contributions matter, and your actions will make a lasting impact.”
