Guelph Police arrested a 30-year-old man who was wanted around the GTA, including here in Halton.
On the afternoon of Sunday, December 8th, officers received a report of the accused attending a gas station on College Road West. He reportedly put $50 worth of gas into his vehicle before taking, making no attempts to pay. A second report came regarding the same person being parked inside a vehicle in an Eramosa Road parking lot, acting erratically.
Before Police arrived on scene it was determined the vehicle the man was driving was stolen from another city on Thursday, December 5th. The man was found inside the vehicle in the parking lot and placed under arrest.
It was reported the man was having trouble controlling his body as he was twitching heavily, his eyes were seen to be shifting rapidly, and he was having a hard time focusing, all signs of use of stimulant narcotics.
Upon further investigation, Police located several small bags of what is believed to be controlled substances. It was also found that the man was wanted on separate warrants from Peel and Halton Regions.
Guelph Police took him into a nearby station, where a Drug Recognition Evaluation was completed, and found that the man was impaired by a central nervous system stimulant and narcotic analgesics.
He was charged with:
- Theft under $5,000
- 8 counts of Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
- 10 counts of Breach Probation
- 2 counts of Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of schedule 1 drugs
- 2 counts of Drive while suspended
- and Operation while impaired
