The Town of Erin is adjusting the scope of the Erin Elora-Cataract Trail project, to meet new environmental requirements from Credit Valley Conservation.
This means they’ll now be retendering the trail work separately.
Brian Kavanagh, the Town’s Director of Infrastructure, explained that new requirements, like a specific type of culvert, led to these changes.
The trail section between Trafalgar Road in Hillsburgh and Main Street in Erin will stay closed while crews install water and wastewater pipes.
Once the pipes are in, the trail will be upgraded, with the removal of trees offset by planting around 20,000 new ones.
The trail remains closed for safety during this construction phase.
