A new $150,000 accessible playground coming to Carberry Park in Erin.
Following the closure of Lion’s Club Park, council approved purchase of playground equipment from Blu Imp, at no cost to the Town.
“The renovated Carberry Park will include new playground equipment that can be used by children with varying abilities — so that’s a good thing” said Councillor Bridget Ryan, Erin’s Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Committee Rep.
“I like that it will also be accessible and include bike racks, benches and shade features — and it’s a nice location beside the river.”
The design sports several accessible features and ramps, and will be the first inclusive Town playground in the Village of Erin.
The playground equipment is being paid for by developers as a replacement of the Lions Park playground after it was temporarily closed due to linear works construction related to the ongoing wastewater plant construction.
Council also approved $21,000 in funding from the Parks and Recreation Services Development Charges Reserve in order to cover the costs of site preparation and paving a walkway and parking spots.
It is expected that the playground will be installed in late May.
