Daily WTF – Entire shipment of Pittsburgh Penguins bobbleheads stolen
I cannot imagine that whoever stole the entire shipment of Pittsburgh Penguins Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads knew what they were stealing. I refuse to believe that. The Penguins organization had to call an audible yesterday after their giveaway for last night’s game was stolen. A shipment of thousands of bobbleheads made to honour one of the franchise’s best players are nowhere to be found. The feds are now investigating the matter. I’d love to see the face of the thieves when they open that shipment to see a bunch of mullet wearing bobbleheads looking back at them.

Get the honk out of their way: Geese are back and they’re agitated
The couple of geese that set up shop outside our studio every spring have returned, as have all the geese around Milton. Officials are warning residents to avoid these honking devil chickens as this is the time they’re looking to nest, mate, and have babies. They’ll be very territorial, so you should keep your distance when you can. You might think you can win a fight against a goose… I’m here to tell you: you’re wrong.
Hollywood’s holy grail: Props from ‘Indiana Jones,’ Pulp Fiction’ are now luxury collectibles
It seems the new thing to do for people with money is buy famous movie props! A new documentary is coming out, talking about the hobby. It follows a man who’s collected all kinds of items from his famous movies, including the holy grail from ‘Indiana Jones’, and the ball gag from ‘Pulp Fiction’. He’s spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on auctions, and would have spent more if it weren’t for people around the world also bidding on items. Someone recently bought the diner booth from the last episode of ‘The Sopranos’ for more than $82,000. It’s an expensive hobby!
What is a first look? The modern wedding trend that brides and grooms prefer more than tradition
It seems a modern wedding trend has toppled tradition for the new normal. Traditionally, the groom would not see the bride in her dress until the moment she walks down the aisle. It’s an emotional moment! But people have decided to jump ahead of that and get a more personal experience. With a photographer, and potentially the wedding party in tow, couples will see each other before the official ceremony for a “first look.” In a recent study, 56% of couples opted for the first look at their wedding. The biggest reason was to get the pictures out of the way so that they can go from ceremony right into the cocktail hour/dinner, allowing the couple to relax a bit. Did you have a first look at your wedding? If you’re not married, would you do a first look? Let me know!
TTC to use sound cannons to scare seagulls away from rooftop of streetcar storage facility
The Toronto Transit Commission has a bit of an issue! For some time now, the rooftop of their streetcar storage facility has been taken over by seagulls. It seems the ‘gulls have making a mess for the TTC, and they’ve devised an interesting plan to remove them. Using what they call “sound cannons,” the TTC will fire off these cannons four times a day between 7am and 7pm. If the birds aren’t there, they’ll hold off on the cannons. While these cannons don’t fire any actual weapons, the plan is the sound will scare the birds away from the facility. They’ve also placed netting on the roof, which is also supposed to detract the seagulls. So, if you’re in the area of Leslie Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East in Toronto anytime soon, get ready to here LOUD NOISES.
You Could Run a ‘Penguin Post Office’ in Antarctica
If you’re okay with working in remote areas that happen to be cold and dark, then there’s a job posting for you! A post office in Antarctica is looking for new employees. Your job would be to sort mail, maintain a small gift shop, and keep count of the penguins that live in the area. You’d work from November 2024 to March 2025. No word on pay, but if you’re looking for a new experience, why not head south… VERY south.
You Feel That Swiftquake? Fans Literally Causing Seismic Activity At Taylor Swift Concerts
It seems that Swifties are little excited when they see Taylor Swift. It’s been called a ‘Swiftquake’, and it’s coming to a city near you. Scientists from the Seismological Society of America and Caltech say the phenomenon is likely caused by the jumping and dancing of 100,000+ in attendance, causing the ground nearby the stadiums to rumble. They found that ‘Shake It Off’ was the biggest culprit, leading to the equivalent of a magnitude 2 earthquake, which is not sizeable but definitely something. So, if you’re seeing Taylor when she comes to Canada, be prepared to dance and jump around…
