A woman from Barrie and a former Olympian was identified as the 31-year-old killed in a multi-vehicle collision in Melancthon Township last week.
Alexandra Paul, was stopped in her vehicle Tuesday afternoon when a transport entered a construction zone on Country Road 124 and ran into the lineup of cars.
Police say the baby in her car was taken to a children’s hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Three other people were injured in the collision.
Originally from Midhurst, Paul met her husband and skating partner, Mitch Islam, at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie in 2009.
The ice dancing duo…captured a silver medal in the 2010 World Junior Championships, and competed in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, coming in 18th.
