An Oakville teenager has been arrested following a stolen vehicle investigation in Cambridge.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) says they first received the report at roughly 1:30 a.m. on Monday, June 26th. The vehicle was stolen from the area of Saginaw Parkway and Townline Road.
Their investigation determined that there had been an altercation in the area. The accused then stole the victim’s vehicle and dragged the victim beside the vehicle for a short distance. The accused then fled the area at a high rate of speed.
The accused then drove a short distance to the area of Cedarbrook Court, lost control and struck a hydro pole. He then left the scene and returned to the area of where the vehicle was reported stolen and was arrested by police.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
As a result of the investigation, an unnamed male youth from Oakville was charged with the following:
- Motor vehicle theft
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to remain
- Fail to comply with release order (two counts)
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
The involved individuals are believed to be known to one another.
The investigation is ongoing.
