A search warrant conducted at a Milton residence, along with two Mississauga locations and connected vehicles, has led to a significant drug bust.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – Drug and Human Trafficking Unit concluded ‘Project Guild’ on Thursday, March 30th. The investigation ran for six months and culminated with several arrests and search warrants.
Between Wednesday, March 29th and Thursday, March 30th, investigators have seized the following:
- 15 kilograms of Cocaine
- kilograms of Fentanyl
- 1 kilogram of Ketamine
- 0.5 kilogram of MDMA (Ecstasy)
- 285 grams of Heroin
The estimated wholesale value of the drugs seized is roughly $1,000,000.
A video of the seized items can be found here.
“The Halton Regional Police Service and its members remain committed to holding individuals that distribute illicit substances accountable,” says Deputy Chief Jeff Hill. “The amount of cocaine and opioids seized in this investigation poses a real danger to the Halton Region and surrounding communities. We will continue vigorously investigating those illegally distributing dangerous substances.”
29-year-old Abdullah-Akhound Khawaja of Milton has been charged with the following:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine, Ketamine and MDMA/Ecstasy) (5 counts)
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
27-year-old Francisco Mejia-Chavarria of Edmonton, Alberta has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl and Heroin) (2 counts)
Both men were held pending a bail hearing.
Warrants have been issued for the following individuals for their alleged involvement in the investigation:
26-year-old Kevin Nguyen of Mississauga:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl, Heroin and Cocaine) (6 counts)
- Dangerous Driving
- Fail to Comply with a Release Order
26-year-old Tran Larissa Vu of Mississauga:
- Fail to Comply with a Release Order
“Bulk quantities of illicit drugs are routinely supplemented with toxic substances which can cause significant harm to the unsuspecting end user,” says Inspector Dave Costantini- Regional Investigative Services. “Considering the street sale profits derived from this seizure, the wholesale value of $1,000,000 grows exponentially. The individuals involved in organized crime do not care about the risk they pose to public safety, they care about stuffing their own pockets.”
