The latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police is now available.
There were six cases across Halton over the weekend:
On Friday, February 24th, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Old Bronte Road and Dundas Street West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 65-year-old Ajax man was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Saturday, February 25th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of North Service Road West and Dorval Drive in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 32-year-old Scarborough woman was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Saturday, February 25th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Morden Road and Pinegrove Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old Toronto man was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, February 26th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Truscott Drive in Mississauga. As a result of an investigation, a 59-year-old Mississauga woman was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Sunday, February 26th, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Plains Road East and Brant Street in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 41-year-old Burlington man was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Sunday, February 26th, Halton Police officers conducted an investigation in the area of Yellow Rose Circle and Saw Whet Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Oakville woman was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed;
- Drifting in and out of lanes;
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently;
- Making exceptionally wide turns;
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance;
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights;
- Disregarding signals and lights;
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly;
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on; and,
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather.
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
