We have the latest impaired driving report from the Halton Police.
There were three cases across Halton last week. Fortunately, none of them involved Milton:
On Wednesday, October 26th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Service Road and Cumberland Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, a 37-year-old male resident of Omemee was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
On Friday, October 21st, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Churchill Road South and Rachlin Drive in Acton. As a result of an investigation, a 36-year-old male Brampton resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
On Thursday, October 27th, Halton Regional Police Service officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Bronte Road and Saw Whet Boulevard in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, a 28-year-old Windsor resident was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.
Remember, driving under the influence is considered a crime in progress. Call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone on the road is driving impaired.
Here are some signs of an impaired driver provided by the Halton Police:
- Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed
- Drifting in and out of lanes
- Tailgating and changing lanes frequently
- Making exceptionally wide turns
- Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance
- Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights
- Disregarding signals and lights
- Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly
- Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on
- Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather
The HRPS says that its officers remain committed to road safety through prevention, education, and enforcement initiatives.
