Credit River Conservation is closely monitoring the forecasted warmer temperatures and rain events beginning Wednesday, February 16 through Thursday, February 17.
Current estimation of approximately 40mm of total combined runoff from rainfall and snow melt is possible in the Credit River Watershed within a 24 hour period starting Wednesday afternoon.
During this period, water levels in streams and rivers are expected to rise and present a risk of ice break up and jams occurring through out the watershed.
The following are ice jam prone locations along the Credit River:
• Town of Caledon: Ferndale, Cheltenham, Terra Cotta
• Town of Halton Hills: Glen Williams
• City of Brampton: Eldorado Park to Churchville
• City of Mississauga: Meadowvale, Erindale Park, Streetsville Memorial Park
As a result, local streams, rivers, and shorelines could become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges, and dams.
The public is urged to stay away from all watercourses, especially children and pets.
The CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed.
The Watershed Conditions Statement for Flood Outlook will be in effect through Friday, February 18th, or until further notice.
