The Face-off charity event returned to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon .
MyFM caught up with TSN’s James Duthie, to ask about his approach at this years event, with new partner, Shawn Mackenzie of Sportsnet.
Each of the 4 players selected a charity of their choice to donate a portion of the $50,000 winnings towards. Charities included the SickKids Foundation, The Frontline Fund, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, and for James Duthie, DEBRA Canada.
After coming up short in the competition last year to both Kyle Dubas and Jeff O’Neill, Duthie was hoping to surprise people in this years event, going up against an NHL All Star in Winnipeg Jets Mark Scheifele , and Seattle Krakens Brandon Tanev.
Hosted by Lindsay Hamilton, the annual event if filmed by award-winning production company Fourth Frame Films, that will be released after the competition. For Seattle Kraken’s Brandon Tanev , the golf, and the chirping amongst players all comes second to the reason why both teams were there – for charity.
