Those chimneys on top of the Orangeville courthouse, well it turns out they’re going to cost the county a lot more than was budgeted.
The county put away about $800,000 for chimney refurbishment but construction quotes showed the project is costing $70,000 more than expected.
Mono deputy mayor, John Creelman explains the project will entail a lot of scaffolding and specialty bricks, which add to the price tag.
Those bricks are so specialized, in their durability and colour, says Creelman, that they’ll have to be imported.
Despite the crumbling bricks posing a safety concern for passersby, Creelman says if they’re not addressed soon, they can end up becoming a costly matter too.
