Habitat for Humanity Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph has partnered with a developer to build a 40-unit townhouse complex on a nearly three acre property near Broadway and Riddell Road.
In March 2018, Habitat purchased 690 Broadway where it will invest about $1.8-million to build six to 10 affordable homes for local families.
Residents have concerns with the proposed development at 670 and 690 Broadway because of its proximity to homes on Dinnick Crescent. The proposal calls for a pathway connecting the new development to Dinnick Crescent.
Residents in that neighbourhood fear that people will park on Dinnick and use the pathway to get into the complex.
They also raised concerns about flooding, but the developer says those claims are unfounded.
The developer is seeking an amendment to the Official Plan to redesignate the land currently zoned residential and open space conservation.
Council hasn’t made any decisions and a report will come back to members at a later date.
