The Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) will close all of its schools on Monday (Oct. 7) if a strike by CUPE members goes ahead.
CUPE and the province are returning to the bargaining table on Friday (Oct. 4) to try an head off a strike.
The union represents a wide-range of staff at DPCDSB, including secretaries, custodians and maintenance personnel, and clerks.
If a settlement isn’t reached by Monday and a strike proceeds, the Catholic school board says all schools will be closed “out of an abundance of caution for the health, safety and well-being of students.”
All non-striking staff will be expected to report for work as usual.
