Since 2012, hundreds of Believe Bags filled with gifts have been given to single moms in Orangeville and Dufferin.
That’s thanks to Karen Ross-Smith who came up with idea and started collecting items such as makeup, toiletries,
candles – things that are more of a luxury to those on a low income, but could help them during hard times.
Ross-Smith’s hard work organizing the Believe Bags project has not gone unnoticed.
In 2015, she was nominated by a friend to win a new car through Breakfast Television.
That December, when she was invited to speak on BT about Believe Bags, she left with a new Toyota for her work.
Ross-Smith says Believe Bags wouldn’t be what it is without the generosity of the community every year leading up to Christmas.
