The in-house smoked meats, fresh ingredients and Louisiana-style barbecue crossed with Portuguese flavours are a mouth-watering hit in Orangeville.
Sul Irmaos Smokehouse opened its doors in early July on Broadway in the downtown.
Owner and head chef Jonathan Pereira says his marinades are family recipes that he grew up with. His Portuguese dishes include rotisserie chicken, fish fillets, rice, and potatoes.
Sul Irmaos Smokehouse had a successful restaurant in Brampton for a few years before Pereira closed the doors to focus on his catering business and a food truck. Both businesses were doing well and that’s when Pereira decided to re-open a restaurant.
Since opening, Pereira says those who have tried their food have come back. Some favourites include the Pulled Pork Beanasaurus and classic Portuguese style chicken.
For now Sul Irmaos Smokehouse will focus on its fusion foods, but Pereira says more traditional Portuguese foods are on the way if customers express interest, including octopus stu and Portugese buns.
