Dufferin OPP is currently investigating an attempted murder in Orangeville.
On February 13th, at approximately 11:00 p.m., OPP responded to a call for a disturbance at an address in Orangeville. Officers located two people inside the residence suffering from serious injuries. The preliminary investigation determined that both victims sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing. One victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life threatening injuries. The other victim’s injuries were deemed minor in nature.
An officer with the Dufferin Detachment sustained minor injuries while effecting the arrest of the accused.
As a result of the investigation, 31 year old Nathan ARSENAULT, from Trenton has been charged with
· Attempt to commit murder
· Assault with a weapon
· and Assault of a peace officer
The accused was transported to Dufferin Detachment and will be held pending a bail hearing.
Police say there is no threat to public safety.
