Caledon OPP charged nine motorists with stunt driving over the weekend as part of ongoing traffic enforcement efforts.
Police say the charges stemmed from excessive speeding incidents, including a driver travelling 174 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Another was clocked at 101 km/h in a posted 40 km/h area. Other speeds recorded ranged from 44 km/h to 56 km/h over the posted limits in various 40, 50, 60, 80 and 100 km/h zones across Caledon.
Speeding is considered an aggressive driving behaviour and police say it remains a major contributing factor in motor vehicle collisions, injuries and fatalities on Ontario roadways. The OPP says enforcement and public education continue to be key tools in improving road safety.
