Ontario Provincial Police in Caledon laid dozens of charges during a focused commercial motor vehicle (CMV) enforcement blitz late last month.
On Friday, January 30th, members of the Caledon OPP conducted a targeted CMV enforcement initiative that resulted in 39 charges being laid in just a matter of hours. Police say the blitz focused on identifying unsafe commercial vehicles and driving behaviours on local roadways.
Among the most common violations observed were insecure loads, equipment and mechanical deficiencies, improper or missing documentation, and improper licence classifications. These issues can pose significant risks to road safety, particularly when involving large commercial vehicles.
The OPP says initiatives like this are part of an ongoing commitment to keeping roads safe through a combination of enforcement and public education. Motorists are encouraged to report unsafe vehicles or dangerous driving behaviours to police when observed.
Road safety, police note, is a shared responsibility among all drivers.
