South Bruce Mayor Jay Kirkland put on his chain that allows him to speak fluent ‘Groundhogese’. Willie then made his official prognostication at 8:07 a.m., and is calling for an early spring!
This is good news for residents in southern Ontario, as it has been a hectic winter in the area. We’ll keep our fingers crossed! Here’s the latest forecast for Milton here.
Over in Nova Scotia, Shubenacadie Sam was allowed to sleep in as their annual event was cancelled due to the winter weather.
In Quebec, Fred La Marmotte also predicted an early spring.
As for the most famous woodchuck, Punxsutawney Phil, he predicted that we’re sticking to the status quo: six more weeks of winter.
CTV News had a livestream of the prognostication. You can watch it here.
