The Town of Orangeville is launching a new Community Recognition Awards program in 2026, inviting residents to help celebrate the people and groups who strengthen, connect, and inspire the community.
The new awards are designed to recognize volunteer service and community achievement across a range of categories, highlighting individuals whose efforts contribute to a healthy, welcoming, and thriving Orangeville. Public nominations are a central part of the program, giving residents the opportunity to recognize those who have made a meaningful difference locally.
“Orangeville is stronger because of the people who step up, give back and help others feel connected,” says Orangeville Mayor Lisa Post. “These awards are celebrating the people who embody the idea of being rooted in community and striving for excellence.”
Nominations must be submitted online and include all required sections, such as an impact statement and supporting evidence. Self-nominations and nominations from immediate family members are not accepted. Accessible formats and assistance with completing nomination forms are available upon request. The nomination deadline is Friday, February 27th, at 4:30 p.m.
Award categories include Volunteer Service Awards for long-term contributions in community and social services, sports and recreation, and arts and culture. Citizen Achievement Awards will recognize residents, teams, or groups who have achieved success at the provincial, national, or international level in sports, recreation, arts, or culture. The Community Champion Award honours an individual who has made a lasting impact through at least 10 years of service, while the Mayor’s Special Achievement Award recognizes an extraordinary or timely achievement that brings distinction to Orangeville.
The Town says the program is designed to reflect Orangeville’s diversity and ensure fair recognition across ages, backgrounds, abilities, and community interests. The adjudication process includes bias awareness training and incorporates a range of lived experiences.
