The Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) board of directors is formally opposing the province’s plan to merge Ontario’s conservation authorities.
At the CVC board’s Nov. 28th meeting, a resolution was passed which opposes the reduction of 36 provincial conservation authorities into seven regional agencies under Ontario’s proposed Bill 68.
Board members raised concerns regarding the scope of the proposed Western Lake Ontario Regional Conservation Authority. This new entity would combine Credit Valley Conservation with Conservation Halton, the Hamilton Conservation Authority and the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority.
