The Town of Caledon is moving to adopt its first formal policy around when electoral ballots require a recount.
The proposed new bylaw that makes clear the thresholds when automatic recounts would apply to races for mayor, regional and local councillors.
At a Nov. 4 meeting, general committee members voted in favour of an automatic recount being triggered if the vote difference is 10 votes or less, or 0.5 per cent of the ballots cast, rounded to the nearest whole number. The proposal now awaits council approval on Nov. 25th
