Milton – FirePower CrossFit is preparing for its annual Burpee Day fundraiser this Saturday, November 8th, with coaches Tonya and Yvonne set to complete more than 3,000 burpees over four hours in support of Halton Women’s Place. The event coincides with Woman Abuse Prevention Month, a time when local organizations highlight the need for community support and awareness.
For the 5th year in a row, coaches Tonya and Yvonne will take on 4 hours of non-stop burpees, pushing their limits to help women and children in crisis. Since 2020, their efforts have raised more than $20,000 for Halton Women’s Place, the only women’s shelter in the region.
Tonya says the long workout is demanding, but the purpose makes every rep meaningful. “It is our pleasure to do this for women and children in need,” she said. “The physical effort is nothing compared to what many families in crisis face. That perspective keeps us moving through every rep.”
FirePower owner Andrea Savard says Burpee Day has become one of the gym’s strongest community traditions. “Every year, the support grows. It shows how much this community cares about standing behind women and children who need it most,” she said.
Last year, Tonya and Yvonne completed a remarkable 3,276 burpees, and the FirePower community hopes to push even higher this Saturday.
Residents are invited to stop by FirePower at 290 Bronte Street South in Milton between 8 a.m. and noon to cheer them on, participate, or donate. Contributions can be made in person or online at https://burpee-day-2025.raiselysite.com/
Halton Women’s Place provides emergency shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, counselling, and support for women and children escaping domestic violence across Halton Region.
