Ontario Premier Doug Ford has followed through on his promise to ban the use of automated speed enforcement cameras across Ontario.
The legislation means that Caledon’s eight municipal speed cameras will essentially become obsolete.
Caledon council has unanimously directed Mayor Annette Groves to write a letter to the province, advocating for the continuation of municipal speed cameras.
A motion directing Groves to formally communicate the town’s position and report findings on photo radar received unanimous support. According to the resolution, the mayor will send a letter on the matter to the transportation minister, other supporting municipalities, Peel Region and the town’s provincial and federal representatives.
