The Northern Cardinal has been named the official Town Bird of Halton Hills following more than 4,000 community votes.
The announcement came during the closing celebration of the Art for the Birds exhibition at the Helson Gallery on October 18th.
Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor called the Cardinal “bright, resilient, and easy to spot in every season,” praising it as a symbol of nature’s presence in the community. Councillor Chantal Garneau thanked residents and partners for supporting the initiative and highlighted the upcoming Bird Friendly Pledge set to launch next year.
The project was led by the Bird Friendly Halton Hills team with support from the Town of Halton Hills, Helson Gallery, Halton Hills Public Library, and Credit Valley Conservation.
