United Way Halton & Hamilton (UWHH) is receiving a major boost thanks to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) WINTARIO50 Community Contest, which awarded the local charity $250,000.
The province-wide initiative was launched as part of OLG’s 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of community support and giving back.
United Way Halton & Hamilton was one of only two regions across Ontario to receive the top prize, thanks to nominations from lottery players who took part in the special WINTARIO50 draw. The funding will be used to strengthen essential social service programs in Halton and Hamilton, supporting vulnerable residents and helping to build stronger, more caring communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to the OLG and our local community for helping United Way Halton and Hamilton win $250,000,” says Brad Park, CEO of United Way Halton & Hamilton. “This amazing support will go directly toward strengthening vital programs that make a big impact for our most vulnerable neighbours. Thank you for standing with us united in ACTION to build a stronger, more caring community.”
Since its founding in 1975, OLG has generated roughly $62 billion for Ontario, helping fund health care, support amateur athletes, address problem gambling, and more. With WINTARIO50, OLG not only honoured its roots but also empowered communities to play a role in directing support where it’s needed most.
