Toronto Police have charged a Georgetown man in connection with a homicide investigation following the death of a Brampton resident.
On Monday, October 6th, police responded to a business near Vulcan Street and Iron Street, where they discovered the body of 35-year-old Derrick Cheung of Brampton. A post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday confirmed his death was a homicide, marking Toronto’s 33rd homicide of the year.
The following day, 36-year-old Lennard Emptage of Georgetown was arrested and initially charged with improper/indecent interference with a dead body. On October 8th, police laid an additional charge of second-degree murder. Emptage appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre and was scheduled for another appearance on October 9th.
