Georgian College has announced it will consolidate its Orillia and Muskoka campuses into the Barrie Campus by fall 2026.
The Orillia campus will close in summer 2026, with programs beginning to transition in May, while the Muskoka campus will close in August. The move follows a comprehensive review of enrolment, labour-market trends, financial realities, and community impact.
College president and CEO Kevin Weaver called the decision difficult but necessary for long-term sustainability.
“While our physical footprint will be smaller, our commitment to these regions remains strong,” he said, noting students’ graduation timelines will not be affected.
The consolidation is expected to save Georgian about $23.5 million over the next five years, with the sale of the Orillia and Muskoka campuses and residences further strengthening its financial position. Officials say moving programs to Barrie will give students access to more services, a vibrant campus life, and stronger employer connections.
Georgian continues to review its campus network, including future opportunities for South Georgian Bay, while building on its Midland, Orangeville, and Owen Sound campuses. Weaver emphasized that the change will allow the college to remain the region’s top choice for preparing students with career-ready skills.
