The Burlington detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an attempted carjacking that took place on Highway 403 early in the morning of Monday, September 15th.
Police say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. near Alberton Road.
According to investigators, the victim was driving westbound on a dark stretch of the highway when they noticed a vehicle behind flashing bright lights. Believing it was police, the driver pulled onto the shoulder. A male suspect then approached the vehicle carrying what was believed to be a chisel and ordered the victim to get out. The suspect was unable to start the victim’s vehicle and fled in his own.
The suspect is described by the HRPS as:
- male
- dark-skinned
- wearing a blue surgical mask and a baseball hat
The victim could not provide details about the suspect’s vehicle.
The investigation is being led by the Burlington OPP with assistance from the OPP Highway Safety Division Crime Unit. Police are asking anyone with dash cam footage or information to contact the Burlington OPP at 905-681-2511 or 1-888-310-1122.
