Ontario has appointed a mediator to help kick-start negotiations between its 24 public community colleges and 10,000 striking support staff.
In a Sept. 24 update, the College Employer Council (CEC), the government-mandated bargaining agent for publicly funded colleges, said it has agreed to resume talks with the help of a provincial mediator on Friday, Sept. 26.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), which represents full-time college support staff, also confirmed its bargaining team will resume talks with the employer on Friday.
