Sustainable Milton has officially begun work on its new Butterfly Meadow at the northeast corner of Commercial Street and Laurier Avenue, and they’re looking for community volunteers to help bring it to life.
Thanks to financial support from the Canadian Wildlife Federation and guidance from the Halton Conservation Authority, the project is well underway. Over the next two weekends, volunteers will be moving soil and mulch to prepare the space for planting. Student volunteer hours are available for those who participate.
Volunteer shifts are scheduled for:
- Saturday, September 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Sunday, September 21st from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Sunday, September 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Anyone interested in helping is asked to register by emailing events@sustainablemilton.ca.
New volunteers must also complete permission forms and waivers.
