The Greater Toronto Area is getting ready to shine a spotlight on women in music with Let’s Inspire Female Talent (LIFT).
It’s a family-friendly afternoon of live performances, panels, and empowerment – created and hosted by Raquel Jaworski, Manager of Raquel’s Riot, with support from the Mississauga Arts Council, City of Mississauga, DC Music, and Grant Avenue Studio. LIFT is designed to celebrate female talent while fostering community connections.
In an interview this morning, Raquel explains where the idea for this event came from.
The agenda includes opening remarks by Councillor Stephen Dasko, a panel discussion with local music leaders, a candid conversation about mental wellness in the creative world, and an emerging talent competition that will highlight rising female artists Ceci Nicoli, Tara Wink, Catherine Gava, Gabriél, Emerald.B, and Hayley Verrall!
LIFT’s featured line-up also includes Raquel’s Riot, co-host Carla B., Krista Blondin, Christine Awasthy, Kristen Prince, Alice Tokareva, Mandi Galer, John Stuart Campbell, Sharlene Gumbs, and Really Big Shiny Tunes.
Tickets are required for all attendees, except children under two-years-old, with family pass options available. Get your tickets here.
The event takes place Sunday, October 5th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Port Credit Royal Canadian Legion’s Riverview Hall, which Jaworski notes is upstairs in the building.
