The Milton Public Library (MPL) will soon host a unique cultural exhibit highlighting the diversity of sign languages across Canada.
‘Sign Languages Used in Canada’ runs from Friday, September 5th through Sunday, September 14th. Visitors will be introduced to six distinct sign languages: American Sign Language (ASL), Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ), Plains Indian Sign Language, Inuit Sign Language, Maritime Sign Language, and Oneida Sign Language.
Through maps, videos, and illustrations, the exhibit explores the histories and unique characteristics of each language, offering a deeper understanding of how they have shaped communication and culture across Canada.
The exhibit will be open to all ages at the MPL’s Sherwood branch. Find it at 6355 Main Street West in Milton.
