Milton Transit is taking a major step forward this fall, introducing Sunday service for the first time.
Starting Sunday, September 7th, all fixed routes, Milton access+ (specialized), and Milton OnDemand services will operate on Sundays from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with buses arriving every 30 to 60 minutes depending on the route. Riders will also see extended weekday evening service beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, with most routes running later into the night and final trips leaving Milton GO Station at 10:50 p.m.
Other improvements launching September 2nd include route realignments, added service to key community destinations, and schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance. Highlights include Route 3’s extension to the Mattamy National Cycling Centre, Route 6 serving the Sherwood Community Centre, and the launch of new Route 9A and 9B services in the Boyne area. Secondary school special service (Routes 50 – 54) will also resume when classes begin.
The expansion builds on Milton’s growing investment in public transit. Since 2021, ridership has surged by more than 650% surpassing one million trips in 2024. The Town has also advanced long-term transit planning, fleet electrification strategies, and partnered with Milton-based MTB Transit Solutions on Canada’s first mid-life diesel-to-electric bus conversion.
“This is an exciting time for Milton Transit as we add service and connections to keep pace with our community’s demand for transit,” says Tony D’Alessandro, Director of Transit Services. “We look forward to providing reliable, responsive, and effective service that moves Milton toward our desired transit future.”
