A fundraising favourite will be returning to the Georgetown Farmers’ Market this weekend.
On Saturday, August 16th, the Market will once again host 10-year-old Madelynne Walker’s 4th Annual Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale in support of medically complex children at The Darling Home for Kids. Visitors can enjoy refreshing lemonade, an array of baked goods donated by local businesses, and even a special treat for dogs.
Over the past three years, Madelynne has raised more than $4,200 for the Home, which provides hospice palliative, respite, and residential programs to families in need. With a goal of $10,000, they continue to work “one cup and one butter tart at a time” toward making a difference.
“I believe all kids deserve to play and just be kids,” they said of their commitment.
Local businesses, including Traditional Taste Bakery & Cafe and Main Street Market, have already pitched in, and more donations are welcome by contacting nwalker@darlinghomeforkids.ca. The Darling Home for Kids offers over 40,000 hours of specialized care each year, creating a safe and joyful environment for children and relief for their families.
Walker’s 4th Annual Lemonade Stand and Bake Sale will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. right along Georgetown’s Main Street.
