Dufferin County will benefit from a major rural transit improvement initiative over the next five years, supported by up to $9.5 million in provincial funding through the Ontario Transit Investment Fund (OTIF).
What This Means for Dufferin Residents:
-
Continued Transit Service: The Dundalk to Orangeville route will remain in service in the short term.
-
Future Expansion: No new transit services will be added in Dufferin until after 2026, when a full study is complete and a vendor is selected.
-
Regional Connectivity: The long-term goal is to develop a unified regional transit system connecting Grey, Bruce, and Dufferin counties, offering equitable and accessible transit.
-
Community Input: Residents and local businesses will have the opportunity to provide feedback during community engagement phases.
