Orangeville Mayor Lisa Post has shared more info on the decision to vote against the 11-A York Street development.
Mayor Post explained that Council voted against the proposed development, based on the belief that the development was not suitable for the historically significant area.
She says planning decisions shouldn’t be made solely on the basis of conformity to provincial policy, they should also reflect the values, voices, and vision of our local neighbourhoods.
While acknowledging the developer might appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal, she affirms the importance of protecting the town’s heritage, while still supporting thoughtful housing growth.
